Completed Platform dictations are stored on your hard drive for a few days. If you want to keep them longer, to make normals, to just have as reference, or to have available for analysis by Instant Text, you will need to move them into new folder.
First, try this directory path: C:\WINDOWS\WCJobs\115 <--- the 115 part is what will differ.
How do you get there? Click the Start menu, My Computer, Windows_XP (when choosing hard drive locations), WINDOWS, scroll down to WCJobs, then try the various numbered directories until you see the files you want. The file names are really long, but they start with the Platform-assigned dictation number.
Once you've found the folder for a particular dictation, double clicking on it will reveal subfiles. The 2 you're interested in are the Word Viewer file (identified by blue W and pair of glasses) and the Notepad file. Double-click either to see the transcribed document.
From this point you can drag the appropriate file into a folder on your desktop [discussed in separate post] or cut and paste from it into your current Platform document.
If you get the message that you can't edit a Word viewer document, instead of double clicking to open the file, right click on it and choose Open With ---> Wordpad.
If you want to send the file to a coworker, right click on the file name and choose Send ---> Mail Recipient. The file will be sent as an attachment using your default mail program. There's also an option to Email with Yahoo!.

I am fairly new at The Platform and never knew that my reports were saved on my computer. I have always thought after I have sent a report "I should have saved that as a normal" and now I can go back and do that.
Thank you soooo much.
I do have one question. If I decide to save a report as a normal after I have sent it..and I go back and copy text..how do I then save it in The Platform? I'm sorry if this seems silly, but I am just learning the ins and outs of this program so to speak...and this is something they don't tell you about in training. I always just thought that you could only use what The Platform had to offer and had to save everything in expanders.
Thanks again.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to add a normal to the expansion and then perhaps modify it and save it.
After you have copied the text, either open up The Platform and click on the create text without audio option or if you are already in a screen paste it on the screen.
Then, highlight the entire document and press CTRL and E to add to the expansions. Give the document a name.
I prefer to name using the first one or two letters of the account and then the docs name (or short version) and then a space with a brief description of the normal.
For instance (this is made up information) Holy Mother Hospital, Dr. Joshua, colonoscopy would be named in the expansion file as: hmjosh colon
Now, Dr. Josh may also have an EGD, simple, hmjosh egd
So after you've named the document in the expander you have it as a normal until deleted.
If you find you need to change this normal, maybe you realized a small error, no problem!
Bring up the normal by typing hmjosh colon and then make your changes.
Highlight the text (CTRL A does this) and then CTRL E and give the normal the same name hmjosh colon and select the "Modify" option.
Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for giving us this info, Joi. I am rather new to this forum & do not know the tricks to The Platform as yet. I have a lot to learn.
