Here's the rules if you want to come here to play:
:-XI don't want to get away from the focus of this board, which is MT productivity tips. The Feedback board is for discussions of anything else, like how you feel about MT companies, etc. I will be deleting those posts periodically -- I'm warning you ahead of time, so please be aware of this possibility.
I'm extraordinarily proud of this community and the way people have come together to help each other become better MTs and ones who earn more. I think we can best keep our community the way it is by not deviating from our focus:
We are a community of kind and caring MTs who meet to help each other with productivity tips and other information.
[Someone else can set up a board where people can complain about MT companies . . . many such sites already exist!]
Ground rules clear, everyone? If you come here, do so in order to carry on a polite dialogue with your coworkers on topics that relate to increasing your productivity as an MT or ME, or on the stated off-topic topic.
Anybody want to be a mod? You may write and offer; I also write to people with whose posts I am most impressed and offer them this position.
What's involved is being responsible for a section of a board:
:)reading all the new posts at least every other day, making sure questions are being answered;
:)cleaning up any inadvertent use of incorrect words or discussion of topics we're not allowed to discuss [sigh];
:)and generally acting as neighborhood watch for that portion of the community.
You agree that people may email or PM you directly on topics related to your board.
If I see by your posts that you have special expertise in a subject area and am impressed by the way you express yourself, I will write and ask you if you'll mod a certain board.
What I like is responses that not only provide useful information but can use the correct words when explaining why something should be done one way or another. I like example! Lots of examples! And I like links to well-organized sites where MTs can learn more about the subject.
In the word and phrase list for text expander section, if you've seen Harrie's Productivity Talk board**, you know what sort of posts I'm looking for. In fact, if you post a phrase there or here, make sure you cut/paste to add your post to her site or mine too.
I liked this rule when I saw it on another board, so I'm adding it here:
:)Because of the nature of this medium, I respect your right to your opinion; however, because I own the medium, I reserve the right to remove content I find objectionable or inappropriate. This includes but is not limited to religious discussions, political discussions, and topics related to one's opinion about MT companies, schools, or organizations or their policies. The only exception is on the Feedback or Free for All boards where pretty much anything goes, except topics, posts, or images which are placed there [in my opinion] solely for the purpose of aggravating or upsetting readers of the forum.
I will add rules as necessary. Please don't make the post that makes a new rule necessary!!
You may discuss this on the Feedback board. I'm locking this thread.

If you don't know about Harrie's Productivity Talk forum, you're missing out on the most valuable MT reference you'll ever find online because use of the words and phrase lists for expanders that are posted there *will* increase your productivity. Remember, if you take some, contribute some too -- that way everyone gets more].
