:DI'm looking for pleasant MTs to help this board keep going in two ways:
:)Be a mod! See the Thoughts -- Sunday August 8 post and also look at the help files for this board to see what exactly a mod does. While I will periodically ask MTs to be mods when I notice their posts demonstrate their expertise in a specific area, right now I need help just making sure that all the posts are on topic and don't mention stuff we shouldn't, etc.
I can't allow any posts to remain which describe events which may or may not have occurred. First off, how do I know whether the description is true, full, and unbiased? I can't possibly. Even if I had all the time in the world to investigate such things, I wouldn't have access to the required information.
More importantly, that's not what I choose to do with my life nor what this board is for. There are lots of other places to go online if you want to look for information about MT companies or impart information; this is not really one of them, except to the extent that some of the companies which use the work product are willing to have their names mentioned here. So I need mods just to deal with posts as they're put up, making sure they're on topic, etc.
So if you have the time right now to quickly check an assigned area of the board several times a day, please email me: use jacardinal at comcast.net and we'll talk. This is volunteer work for those who wish to give their time to help this community grow in the way we all want it to.
:)Donate a bit of cash for the start-up costs of this board! I've spent money right now to hire Kim to put the board up and G to transfer the posts. I also hate to mention it or sound like I'm whining in any way, because certainly I'm choosing to do this, but I've been keyboarding a lot of lines lately via email and posts that would have earned me money were they entered on another screen. While on the one hand I'm really proud and happy to have had a part in creating this pleasant and useful community, on the other hand I can't ignore the abrupt impact it has had on my family in the past few days.
So, only if you want to, but if you feel moved to help out financially, I would be overjoyed to receive a one-time gift of $5-20 to help with the costs involved in creating this replacement community so quickly. Unless you state otherwise, I would like to thank such donors and list them as founding members of this board.
If you are moved to help in this way, please email me: jacardinal at comcast.net.
Whether you give of your time or financially or neither, you will still have the same exact access to this board, as far in the future as I can see right now! I can't imagine a way in which this board could evolve that would make me want to charge for access -- all I'm doing is providing a place where people can share their ideas, except when I share an idea of my own, of course. I figure people get ideas here that help them make more money, and then they provide ideas of their own, which help others make more money. It's a good karma kind of thing, I guess.
