Hi
I am using an old version of IT, the first. I have yet to figure out how to insert a word or phrase. I picked up Smartype right away. I do not know why I am having such a hard time with IT. Just don't find the instructions clear.
If someone could just give me a couple easy steps to insert a term, I would be a happy camper.
Thanks
CJ

I have the newer version of IT so it may not be the same, but all I do to add a word or phrase is to highlight the word/phrase and press ALT and the += button at the same time and bingo it's in. But it will go in the word section unless you give it an abbrev. of longer than one letter. Then of course you can add many words/phrases in one shot by creating glosseries, but that is a whole new story. I have found the Instant text main forum web site very helpful. You can post questions there or even call the Instant text people for personal help. They are extremely helpful and patient. Their number can be found on the Instant Text web site.
Hope this helps.

The old versions of IT don't work, to my knowledge, with The Platform. I have the old and the new version. I will admit I tried out my old version (trying to save money), and it was a mess. When I bought the new version I have last August I also had to download a revision file (this probably isn't necessary now). I works like a charm.
Good luck.

To insert terms on IT while you are typing all you do is highlight what you want to enter, double click on your glossary, and if it is a phrase click phrase then add, paste into window, and hit tab this will add shortcut

Sorry if I didn't make it clear that I didn't write the above post about IT, simply cross-posted it from Kelly's contribution to another group. I'll edit the post to make that more clear.
I heard from Marianne at Textware Solutions who tells me the process is even easier:

It is actually simpler: you just highlight, type Alt+= and then Enter.

Even though I don't yet own it, I cannot say enough good about Instant Text. It is a brilliantly designed program, and the company offers exemplary support to MTs and other users. The moment my budget can handle it, I'm buying my copy; sadly, air conditioning has to be my first purchase.
