Carmella:
I will respond to you via email.
But for everyone's benefit, if the company that set you up with your computer did not include Word, there is a very inexpensive option for acquiring it.
First off, you can get a 30-day trial of the basic Office suite:
"Order the Office Professional Edition 2003 Trial CD Kit.
The Office Professional Edition 2003 Trial CD Kit is available worldwide for free, but shipping costs $7.95 US for the first kit and $4.95 US for each additional one. Additional charges apply for express shipping.
The Office Professional Edition 2003 Trial CD Kit includes:
• A 30-day evaluation copy of Office Professional Edition 2003, containing trial versions of Access 2003; Excel 2003; Outlook 2003; Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager; PowerPoint 2003; Publisher 2003; and Word 2003
• Resource & Information CD.
• Getting Started Guide."
www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/trial.mspxTwo other Microsoft products may be downloaded as free trials for
60 days. These include OneNote [see my separate post gushing about this awesome "tool for thinkers," without which I can no longer function] and Project Standard Edition.
tinyurl.com/4vq29The same page lists a few other programs that may be downloaded or ordered on CD for free trials of various lengths:
:)Front Page 2003 -- 30 days
:)InfoPath 2003 -- 60 days
:)Live Communications Server 2003 -- 120 days
:)Project Standard Edition 2003 -- 60 days
:)Publisher 2003 -- 30 days
:)SharePoint Portal Server 2003 -- 120 days
:)Visio 2003 -- 30 days
Once you have exhausted the free trials, Word 2002 is available quite inexpensively, usually for less than $40, when purchased as part of Microsoft Works Suite 2004, a set of programs for home use that also includes Works 7.0 ("organize your household with spreadsheets, a calendar, an address book, a database, and more"); Picture It! Photo Premium 9.0; Encarta Encyclopedia Standard 2004;
Money 2004; and Streets & Trips 2004.
Every time I've looked, I've seen Works Suite 2004 listed by multiple sellers on eBay, usually as a Buy It Now listing for about $40.
Finally, remember that if you have no other options, you can download free Viewer programs that allow you to view documents and files created in Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, and Visio:
