I may be losing it, but I am watching 3 websites. Did someone post instructions on how to put our word-expander in a folder on the desktop? I thought there was mention of being able to edit it on the desktop, but it is possible I was dreaming this part!
Does Joi ever sleep? I see the times she posts, and I don't think she sleeps! How does she do it all??

First, find the file or folder by either using Start/Programs or Windows Explorer. Then, highlight it and right click. There will be an option to send it to the desktop.

Thanks for that excellent reply, Rennie. This path should lead to your expander file: C:\WINDOWS\WebCorrect\Cache\USER PROFILES You can get there by clicking the Start menu button, then choosing My Computer, the C drive under Hard Disk Drives, then scroll down to get to Windows and follow the directory path from there. Under user profiles should be 1 or more subfolders; these are named with the numerical company number that you enter at the the work platform log-in. There may be another numbered subfolder within the numbered folder. Click that and you should find a list of files. The file user.aco is your expander file. Right click on it and choose to send it to desktop; you will then see an icon on your desktop that when clicked brings up a notepad copy of the file. This allows you to look at your file in Notepad format, which could be quite valuable if you want to send a list of contributions to Harrie's Productivity Talk for MTs forum [See link under Online Resources]. Other than that, though, I can't really see any reason for doing this. I have not experimented with changing the file in the notepad form and saving it. I strongly discourage anyone from making any changes to it unless they really, really know what they're doing. I personally don't know enough about it to want to risk making changes. I have it on my to-do list trying to see if one can edit one's user.aco file without being logged in to the system in any way so that I can do this if the system is down. I will report the results when I have any. Until then, please do not interpret anything you read on this forum as suggesting you should make changes to your expander file. It would reflect very badly on this forum if anything I posted here were to result in a rash of calls to tech support from MTs who have inadvertently messed up their expander files. I hope you understand my concerns. Note: Since I originally wrote this, I have received a frantic email from another MT who messed up her expander file. I told her to call 1-888-DICTATE as fixing this is beyond the scope of what I feel comfortable telling others to do. I didn't recognize this MT as a regular forum visitor and have no idea where she got the idea of trying to modify her file.
